MELISSA CARLISLE
About me
I've worked in communications and marketing for 14 years as a writer, editor and project manager.
I spent five years in the communications department at Latin Link, an international Christian charity. There, I produced resources for volunteers, before being made the staff writer and then the publications manager. I wrote, edited and compiled all the content for the charity's weekly and monthly newsletters and e-bulletins, their twice-yearly magazine, and their annual report. The web and social media content was in my hands too. And once a year, I completed the unenviable challenge of compiling a 60-page international booklet containing an update about every worker.
I then worked for two years at the Centre for Sustainable Energy, a national charity, where my science background and copywriting experience came together - I spent a lot of time reading through scientific reports and summarising them for both a client and public audience. I kept the website updated, wrote two regular e-newsletters, and managed the social media. Email campaigns needed to be created and monitored, and piles of resources put together. At the end of my time there, I helped oversee a complete overhaul and relaunch of the charity's main website.
I've been working freelance for seven years, and have enjoyed helping out a wide range of clients with different needs, from small charities to international businesses. Have a look at my portfolio.
I'm an Oxford graduate, which set me up for life in terms of working hard to a tight deadline. And I've worked as a professional proofreader too, so my attention to detail and passion for good grammar is second to none...
